This is the type species (holotype) of the genus Polyphacum.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Osmundaria prolifera J.V.Lamouroux

Type locality: "Nov. Holl." (possibly Western Australia) (Silva, Basson & Moe 1996: 532). Notes: Probably W. Aust.; not located in Herb. Lamouroux, CN (Womersly, 2003: 406).

Adjective (Latin), producing offsets, bearing progeny as offshoots (Stearn 1973).
