Syntype localities: S:t Lawrencebay, S:t Lawrence-ön, ymnig; sällskaplig inom öfre delen af sublitoralregionen; steril. [St. Lawrence Bay, St. Lawrence Island, abundant, gregarious in the upper part of the sublitoral zone; Sterile; St Lawrence Island (Bering Sea)]; (Kjellman 1889: 37) Lectotype: 1/8/1879; LD; 2081 (Widdowson 1971: 29) Notes: According to Widdowson (1971: 27) "These were probably two localities, St. Lawrence Bay being on the Siberian mainland." Widdowson (1971: 29) chose a specimen (LD 2081) from St Lawrence Island as the lectotype.
Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), crisped, irregularly waved and twisted (Stearn 1983).
