Type locality: "New Zealand, Colenso s.n. (TCD0011988)" (Nelson & Dahlen 2014: 241). Lectotype: Colenso; TCD 00119988 (Nelson & Dahlen 2014: 241).
Origin of species name
Adjective (Latin), truncate, i.e., ending very abruptly as if cut straight across (Stearn 1973).
