Lectotype locality: Port Phillip, Victoria, Australia (Silva & al. 1996: 856). Lectotype: F. von Mueller; LD herb. Alg. Agardh 15588 (Silva & Womersley 1956: 275). Notes: Silva et al. recommend consulting P. Silva & Womersley (1956: 275) for further information regarding the lectotype locality of this species.
Codium tomentosum var. australasicum Areschoug 1854
