Nomenclatural notes
The orthography "Noltii" was originally used by Hornemann to honour Ernst Ferdinand Nolte (1791-1875). Under the current International Code of Nomenclature the genitive singular honorific for a name ending in "e" is to add an "i" and not to delete the "e" and to add "ii". So, for example, Paul Silva of Berkeley has corrected the alga Haematococcus noltii as spelled "-ii" by C. Agardh to "noltei" (see http://ucjeps.berkeley.edu/cgi-bin/search_ina.pl?lookfor=noltei). There is also a Rubus described by H.E.Weber called Rubus noltei , not "noltii" (see http://plants.jstor.org/specimen/b_10_0278065), and a Potamogeton noltei G.Fischer. The zoologists also use this spelling: Bucculatrix noltei is a
butterfly named for Nolte. The International Plants Names Index from Kew Gardens uses "noltei" for all three plant species named for persons with the surname Nolte (http://www.ipni.org/ipni/plantnamesearchpage.do), including Zostera. - (25 May 2013) - M.D. Guiry
