Type Species
This is the type species (holotype) of the genus Ralfsia.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Ralfsia fungiformis (Gunnerus) Setchell & N.L.Gardner.

Even though the material illustrated from Berwick by the Rev. Berkeley is not this species, the combination is based on Zonaria deusta C.Agardh, nom. illeg., typified by material from Iceland. The name is illegitimate as it is based on an illegitimate name. - (06 September 2012) - M.D. Guiry
