Type locality: "In Kent's Islands, near New Holland. Mr. Brown." [Kent Group Islands, Bass Strait, Australia]; (Turner 1809-1811: 52) Holotype: R. Brown; BM (ex K); (Womersley 1987: 384) Notes: Womersley (1987: 384) notes that there are isotypes in BM and E.

Adjective (Latin), somewhat cylindrical, with contractions or swellings at intervals along the length.
