Taxonomic note
"Such a new combination was proposed by Gómez Garreta et al. (2001: 446). This infraspecific taxon differs from the autonym in: i. small size of thalli (2-2.5 cm; to 10- 20 cm in the autonym); ii. branching regularly dichotomous (irregularly dichotomous and sometimes unilateral in the autonym); iii. articles shorter than those of the autonym (2-3 times longer than the diameter; 4-5 times longer the diameter in the autonym); iv. spherical shape assumed by fresh thalli out of the water (spindle-shaped in the autonym)." (Comaci & al. 2023: 403-4). - (24 November 2023) - M.D. Guiry
