Syntype localities: "In the Sea. On Santon Sands, near Plymouth; Miss Hill. Bantry Bay; Miss Hutchins." (Dillwyn 1809: 40). Type: LD (Lipkin & Silva 2002: 6). Notes: "England" as type locality was first selected by Drouet (1968: 263) (Silva et al., 1996)
