Type Species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Hormiscia is Hormiscia penicilliformis (Roth) Fries.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Urospora wormskioldii (Mertens) Rosenvinge.

Type Information
Type locality: "Ad littora Gothaab, Grönlandia" [Nuuk, Greenland]; (Hornemann 1816: 6) Type: Wormskiold; C; (Yoshida 1998: 79) Notes: Burrows (1991) selected Hornemann's plate (Hornemann 1816, pl. MDXLVII) as lectotype. Yoshida, however, reports material in C which would take precedence.
