The type species (holotype) of the genus Predaea is Predaea masonii (Setchell & N.L.Gardner) G.De Toni.
Status of name
This name is of an entity that is currently accepted taxonomically.
Type locality: Rottnest Island, Western Australia (31°58'S; 115°31'E) (Kraft 1984: 7). Holotype: Huisman; 5 December 1980; 12 m. MELU K7163 (Kraft 1984: 7). Notes: Type shown in figs 15, 16.
Named for John M. Huisman, Australian phycologist.
