This name is of an entity that is currently accepted taxonomically.
Type locality: "ad novam Hollandiam" (Silva, Basson & Moe 1996: 328). Holotype: Desfontaines; Herb. Agardh, LD 25599 (Womersley 1994: 337). Notes: Isotype in PC.
Origin of species name
Adjective (Latin), with opposite leaves.
Fijian records of Callophycus are currently under investigation (South & Skelton, 2003).
This is a marine species.
Essentially a deep water species of western affinities (Womersley 1994: 337).
