Type locality: Wokam, Aru Islands, Indonesia (Silva & al. 1996: 355). Type: Museo Civico, Venezia? (Yoshida 1998: 842).

Adjective (Latin), spongy, porous, soft like a wet sponge (Stearn 1985).
