Type locality: Ukraine: Kharkov (Index Nominum Algarum). Lectotype: Korshikv (1929), fig. 54: Fig. 11 (epitype) (Skaloud et al. 2012: 319). Notes: Epitype: Synura petersenii strain S 7.7, frozen material deposited at the Culture Collection of Algae of Charles University in Prague. Live culture: CAUP B 703.
