This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Sphacelorbus nanus (Nageli ex Kützing) Draisma, Prud'homme & H.Kawai

Type locality: Torquay, England (Athanasiadis 1996: 198). Type: L no 937.71-710 Notes: Type: Nageli 214: Torquay (L. sh. 937.71-710: lectotype) (Draisma et al. 2010).
