This species was introduced into the Mediterranean (Verlaque et al. 2015: 197) via the Suez Canal, being first reported from Albania 1974. It is now widespread, if local - (5 Nov 2015) - M.D. Guiry
This is a marine species.
Type locality: off Elat, Gulf of Aqaba, Israel (Silva, Basson & Moe 1996: 484).
