Lectotype locality: Kommetjie, Cape Province, South Africa (Silva & al. 1996: 862). Notes: Silva et al. (1996) recommend consulting P. Silva (1959: 116) for more information on the lectotype locality of this species.
No synonyms are currently included in AlgaeBase.
According to Silva et al. (1996) the name Codium adhaerens has been misapplied to this species by Barton (1896: 194 (in part)).
This is a marine species.
