Type locality: "Ce Chara à été recueilli par M. Thuillier, dans les eaux stagnantes, aux environs de Paris; et par M. Desvaux, dans le Poitou." [Poiteau was a province of west-central France, capital Poitiers] (Loiseleur Deslongschamps 1810: 137). Lectotype: Desvaux?; No date; PC (Wood & Imahori 1965: 353). Notes: Lectotype locaility: "Gallia / ohne Datum / [Desvaux]"
