Neotype locality: Anse du Troc, Banyuls-sur-Mer, France; (Abbott 1990) Neotype: T. Christensen; June, 1954; C; (Abbott 1990) Notes: The original type locality was Constantinople [Istanbul], Turkey but the type specimen has been lost (Børgesen, 1932; Abbott 1990; Huisman, 2002) and a neotype has thus been selected.
