Type locality: Isla del Cocos (Cocos Island, Costa Rica ca 5^oN 88^oW), Pacific Ocean; (Woelkerling 1998: 388) Holotype: collector not indicated; date not indicated but material forms part of the St George Expedition 1923-1924 associated with C. Crossland; BM; algal box collection no. 316 (Woelkerling 1998: 388) Notes: Holotype fragment: PC, unnumbered, General Herbarium box collection (non-fossil; filed in non-geniculate coralline type collections cabinet under basionym).
