Nomenclatural note
According to Strunecký et al. (2017: 119): "This species was described from soil in Sweden. It is also too wide (5–6.5 ?m) and has cells shorter than wide to isodiametric. It is also calyptrate. It conforms in both morphology and ecology to Microcoleus vaginatus, and we consider it to be a later synonym of that species." - (30 March 2017) - M.D. Guiry
