Description
Plants epilithic, solitary or gregarious, cartilaginous, dark purple, about 5 cm high. Holdfast composed of small discoid hapteron and few short stolons. Erect axes terete, rather rigid, gradually attenuated toward apex, irregularly branched, 1-2 mm in diameter. Branchlets alternately and spirally arranged at short intervals, flattened, leaf-like, amplexicaul at base, obpyriform to lanceolate, with smooth surface, usually wanting in star-like projections, with irregularly dentate margin, 5-30 mm long, 3-6 mm broad. Cortices two to three cell-layered, with globose to ellipsoid cells. Medullae composed of long fusiform cells and long non-cellular endofibers. Plants monoecious. Cystocarps borne in flabellate appendages arising on margin and abaxial surface of ramuli, fusiform, pedicellate, biconvex, divided into two loculi by longitudinal septum, 0.7-1.1 mm long. 0.3-0.5 mm in diameter. Spermatangia borne on flabellate appendages, ovoid to ellipsoid, crosswise divided, 50-60 mm long, 27-40 mm in diameter.
