Type locality: near Berlin (Index Nominum Algarum). Lectotype: fig. 8. pl. VII in Ehrenberg: Fig. 1, c and d (permanently preserved material from strain SAG 1224-19b) (epitype) (Karnkowska-Ishikawa et al. 2011: 658). Notes: Lectotype designated in Karnkowska-Ishikawa et al. (2011: 658). Epitype deposited at the herbarium of the Biology Faculty at Univ. of Warsaw.
