Request PDFDescription: Cells are solitary or in clusters, without mucilaginous envelopes, ovoid or cylindrical, and they sometimes form chain-like pseudofilaments with up to eight cells after division. Thylakoids are parallely arranged in free fascicles oriented along the cell walls and occasionally found in the cell centre. Reproduction is by cross-wise binary fission in one plane in subsequent generations, perpendicularly to the longer axis or slightly oblique.
