Type locality: "Miilky Way", coast of the Republic of Palau (Miyashita et al. 2003: 1249). Type: 10 August 1993; From Lissoclinum patella Gottschaldt. (Miyashita et al. 2003: 1249). Notes: Type strain: Isolated from algal suspension squeezed out from Lissoclinum patella Gottschaldt. Acaryochloris marina MBIC11017. Habitat: Mainly as a symbiont in colonial ascidians.
