Detailed distribution with sources
(as Rhodymenia palmata var. marginifera Harvey)
Europe: Britain (Newton 1931).
In the text to pl. 217, Harvey does not cite the name Fucus palmatus var. marginifer Turner (q.v.) under his var. ß marginifera, only listing Fucus palmatus as described by Stackhouse Ner. Brit. p. 54, t. 12 and Ulva caprina Gunnerus Fl. Nov. vol. ii, p. 126, t. 6, f. 4. Consequently, this is a new name which should be attributed solely to Harvey.
