This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Ulva clathrata (Roth) C.Agardh
Origin of species name
Adjective (Latin), having tufts of long weak hairs (Stearn 1973).

Conferva crinita Roth, the intended basionym of Enteromorpha critinta is a later homonym of Conferva crinita Withering (1776: 751) and hence not priorable. Enteromorpha crinita is treated as a nome nomvum in coordance with Article 72, Note 1 of the ICBN (Guiry, pers. comm.).
According to Burrows (1991) this is a species in its own right and not a synonym.
