Taxonomic note
"This species was described by Meneghini (1844: 299) from Dalmatia (Croatia). Kützing (1866: 12, pl. 3/ef) illustrated it in his Tabulae Phycologicae. Zanardini (1862: 470), reasoned on the conspecificity between this species and Arachnophyllum confervaceum; however, having at the same time considered as superfluous the genus Arachnophyllum by himself previously described, listed both Ag. vidovichii and Ar. confervaceum among the synonyms of Nitophyllum confervaceum [= Ar. confervaceum]."
