Taxonomic note
According to Chamberlain (in Irvine & Chamberlain 1994: 17), the taxonomic placement of Melobesia callithamnioides Solms-Laubach (for which Falkenberg proposed the new name Melobesia solmsiana) is uncertain. According to Babbini & Bressan (1997) this species is a synonym of Hydrolithon farinosum (Lamouroux) Penrose & Chamberlain. - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
