Type locality: North Sea off Denmark (56º14.52'N, 07º27.54'E); (Tillmann & al. 2011: 77) Holotype: July 2008; marine phytoplankton; Senckenberg Research Institute and Natural History Museum, Centre of Excellence for Dinophyte Taxonomy, Germany; strain UTHC8, designation CEDiT2010H8 (formalin fixed sample) (Tillmann & al. 2011: 77, 75) Notes: Isotype: formalin fixed sample (strain UTHC8, designation CEDiT2010I9), deposited at same herbarium as the holotype.
