Nomenclatural notes
Illegitimate: priority for Ulva crispa Lightfoot, 17777. Invalid: type not designated (Wynne & Furnari 2014). - (16 April 2014) - M.D. Guiry
"When Dangeard described U. crispa sp. nov., he reported Ulva lactuca f. crispa P. Dangeard (1949) as a synonym. But since he did not give a full and direct reference to the place of its valid publication, with page reference and date, it cannot be considered as a valid new combination, according to Art. 41.5 of the Melbourne Code (McNeill et al. 2012), but as a new species. Also, it is invalid because the type was not indicated. Lastly, it is illegitimate, being a later homonym of Ulva crispa Lightfoot (1777)." (Wynne & Furnari 2014: 524). - (16 April 2014) - M.D. Guiry
