Nomenclatural note
This name appeared in Harvey (1851: 70, as Fucus Harveyanus, Dne. ined.) "I forbear to describe this species..." [forbear means here that he wishes to desist]. See Silva (1990) for a history of this name. While the type at PC is representative of the N. Atlantic F. ceranoides, records from the Pacific coast of N.
