Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Spyridia is Spyridia filamentosa (Wulfen) Harvey.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Spyridia dasyoides Sonder.

Type Information
Lectotype locality: Preservation Harbour, South Island, New Zealand; (Silva & al. 1996: 426) Notes: This type locality was first described by Womersley & Cartledge (1975: 231).
