This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Gracilaria salicornia (C.Agardh) E.Y.Dawson.

Type locality: "ad litora Unalaschkae" [probably Manila, Philippine Islands fide Dawson 1954a: 4]; (Silva & al. 1996: 175) Notes: According to South & Skelton (2003), the type locality is "ad litora Unalaschkae', probably Manila, Philippine Islands fide Dawson 1954a: 2. According to Millar & Xia (1997), the type locality is Manila Harbor, Philippines. According to Abbott (1994: 117), the type locality is Manila Bay (although reported as being from Alaska because of a mix-up of labels).
