Type locality: Paita, Peru (Womersley 1996: 30). Holotype: Dumont d'Urville; 1823; PC (Gurgel, Liao, Fredericq & Hommersand 2003: 159). Notes: Type sheet [lectotype left specimen (Fredericq & Hommersand 1989: 228)] in Herb. Bory, PC (Womersley 1996: 30).

This is a marine species.

Habitat
Uppermost sublittoral on stones; Lake Butler at Robe is a small lake used as a harbour for fishing fleet (Womerley 1996: 31).
