Taxonomic note
Lithothamnion fruticulosum auctorum (non Spongites fruticulosa Kützing 1841) has been re-described and identified as L. minervae sp. nov. by Basso 1995. - (28 June 2010) - G.M. Guiry
Habitat note
In soft bottom sample and in maerl. Basso (1995: 358) notes that this species occurs commonly in circalittoral coastal detritic bottoms (DC; Pérès & Picard, 1964), and with the "maerl" species Phymatholithon calcareum and L. corallioides. - (28 June 2010) - G.M. Guiry
