General Environment
This is a marine species.
Habitat
Found growing predominantly on leaves and stems of the seagrass, Amphibolis antarctica; also found growing on the brown alga, Acrocarpia paniculata (Turner) Areschoug (Penrose 1992: 95).

Taxonomic note
According to Silva et al. (1996: 236), the name Melobesia triplex has been misapplied to this species by Heydrich (1902: 473 (type locality: near Fort-Dauphin [Taolanaro], Madagascar) - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
