This is the type species (holotype) of the genus Pachyarthron.

Status of name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Corallina officinalis Linnaeus

Type information
Type locality: Unalaska Island, Aleutian Archipelago, Alaska (Woelkerling et al. 2008: 267). Lectotype: [G.] Kastalsky; 1827; LE (Woelkerling et al. 2008: 267). Notes: Lectotype is illustrated by Woelkerling et al. 2008: fig. 1. The lectotype was collected during the Russian expedition of 1826-1829 on the corvette Seniavin under the command of the Russian naval officer Fjodor Petrowitsch Lütke.

This is a marine species.

Type information
Lectotype locality: Unalaska Island, Aleutian Archipelago, Alaska (Woelkerling et al. 2008: 267). Lectotype: Kastalsky; 1827; LE Lütke Expedition specimen 827c (Woelkerling et al. 2008: 267). Notes: Lectotype designated by Woelkerling et al. (2008: 267); Isolectotype in S (Swedish Museum of Natural History) with herbarium accession number A2609, designated by Hind et al. (2014). A partial rbcL sequence 296 base pairs in length was obtained from the isolectotype specimen.
