Type locality: Misaki, [Osaka Prefecture?], Japan (Woelkerling et al. 2005: 141). Holotype: Y.Yendo; April 1903; "paa luftbl. især af [= on air bubbles especially of] Sargassum serratifolia". TRH A16-1010 (Chamberlain 1994: 129).
