Type locality: Hofmansgave, Fyn, Denmark (Womersley 1984: 136). Lectotype: LD herb. alg. Agardh 13617 (Bliding 1963 Notes: According to Bliding (1963), the specimen is "accompanied by a drawing in C. Agardh's hand."

Adjective (Latin), rambling or ranging over (Lewis & Short 1890).
