Adjective (Latin), dichotomous, having divisions always in pairs (Stearn 1973).

Neotype locality: Cape Ann, at Good Harbour Beach, Massachusetts, USA (Hansen 1980: 208). Neotype: Gayle I. Hansen; 21 August 1976; FH (Hansen 1980: 208). Notes: Original type locality: "In littus maris Albi, quod incolis Terscoy audit"
