Type locality: bei Milazzo in Sicilien; (Index Nominum Algarum) Notes: Epitype strain: SAG 2286; lagoon mudflat, Baltic Sea, Rügen Island, Vitter Bodden, Germay (Rybalka et al., 2020: table 1).

Adjective B (Latin), thin, slender, meagre, poor (Brown 1946).
