Lectotype locality: Pointe de Querqueville, France (Chamberlain & Irvine 1994: 34). Lectotype: E. Bornet; 31 December 1855; on Haliptilon squamatum. PC unnumbered, Thuret-Bornet Herbarium (algal fascicle 130, filed under Choreonema), includes one unnumbered slide; designated by Woelkerling, 1987: 113 (Chamberlain & Irvine 1994: 34). Notes: This type locality was first described by Woelkerling (1987a: 113). Extra information Woelkerling (1998: 381).

General environment
This is a marine species.

Habitat
Found on the geniculate corallines Haliptilon roseum and less often on Jania verrucosa and J. micrarthrodia; host thalli containing the endophyte collected intertidally from pools and rockplatforms and subtidally to depths of 25m (Womersley 1996: 214).

Type locality: Atlantic France. (Dawson 1960: 60). Type: Thuret & Bornet; on Corallina. Nat. Hist. Mus. Paris (Dawson 1960: 60).
