Type locality: Harbour at Victoria, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada; (Gardner 1927: 411) Lectotype: N.L.Gardner No. 3904; UC; (Athanasiadis 1996: 160) Notes: According to Dawson (1962: 18) the type (Gardner 3904) was found growing on log floats in the harbor at Victoria, Vancouver Island, Canada (June) and it is located in the Herbarium of the Univ. of California, Berkely (284038). He also notes that there is an isotype fragment located in Herb. A. Hancock Foundation. INA has "holotype UC 284038".
