This is a marine species.
Type locality: Bodega Bay, California. (Woelkerling et al. 2005: 230). Lectotype: Gibbs no. 68; 10.xii.1898; on "Laurencia pinnatifida". TRH B1-1629 (Woelkerling et al. 2005: 229). Notes: Dawson 1960 stated that the lectotype, Setchell & Gibbs 68, Dec 1898 is in Herb. Trondheim. an isotype is in Herb. U.C (194576)
