Type locality: Moss Beach, Monterey Peninsula, California, USA (Smith & Hollenberg 1943: 215). Type: Hollenberg 2890; "Epiphytic on leaves of Phyllospadix cast ashore...". UC 2036529 (Smith & Hollenberg 1943: 215). Notes: The type is illustrated by Lindstrom & Hughey (2016: fig. 1). The holotype is given as Hollenberg 2980 in Lindstrom & Hughey (2016: 282) but as 2890 in Hollenberg in Smith & Hollenberg (1943: 215).
Australia and New Zealand: New South Wales (Ackland et al 2007).
