Callithamnion efflorescens J.Agardh
Type locality: "Ad litora sinus Codani in Fuco purpurascenti parasitica" (Agardh 1851: 15). Type: LD Agardh No. 35129 Notes: Athansiadis (1966: 21) mentions Kullaberg as the type locality. Kullaberg is a nature reserve situated on a peninsula of land protruding into the Kattegat in Höganäs Municipality near the town of Mölle in southwest Sweden. Sinus Codanus is generally regarded as the area of the Kattegat.

Garbary (1987: 64) record this as a species as a synonym of Audouinella efflorescens.
In England, restricted to northern and eastern shores from Caithness to Yorkshire. Denmark, Sweden (Dixon & Irvine, 1977). Widely distributed in the Arctic. Placed in Acrochaetium by Nielsen et al. (1995).
This is a marine species.
