Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Amphidinium is Amphidinium operculatum Claparède & Lachmann.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Nusuttodinium amphidinioides (Geitler) Y.Takano & T.Horiguchi.
Type Information
Type locality: "Jezioro Czarne. (Pd.-zachodnia czesc systematu jezior wigierskich)" [Black Lake, part of the Wigry Lake system in NE Poland] ; (Woloszynska 1925: [3])
