Type Species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Euglena is Euglena viridis (O.F.Müller) Ehrenberg.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Phacus inflexus (Kisselev) Pochmann.

Type locality: Central Asia: near Kara-kul [Tajikistan]; (Index Nominum Algarum) Lectotype: fig. 20a in Pochmann 1942: Cells in resin from strain ACOI 1336 (epitype) Herbarium of the Biology Faculty at the University of Warsaw; cells (from strain ACOI 1336) in resin, for EM (Karnkowska-Ishikawa et al. 2010: 178) Notes: Lukomska-Kowalczyk et al. (2020: 1147) note that the epitypification statement published in Karnkowska-Ishikawa et al. 2010 (p. 178) does not include the phrase "designated here".They designate the epitype (Karnkowska-Ishikawa et al. 2010, fig. 1b in their pulication (2020: 1147).
