This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Bangia fuscopurpurea (Dillwyn) Lyngbye.

Minimal description: "È molto più piccola e più tenue della precedente colle areole molto, fitte e intensamente colorate. Cresce sovra i sassi sotto le mura di Zara."
